About
Education Technology at School District 49 is a dynamic and multi-platform environment (Apple, Chrome, Microsoft) with over 16,000 digital learning devices used across the district, encompassing urban and rural areas in the northeastern part of Colorado Springs and the Falcon area of El Paso County. The district leverages Google's free G Suite for Education, a suite of apps and resources to facilitate learning and collaboration in the classroom for more than 21,000 students in coordinated and non-coordinated schools.
The Education Technology team at District 49 has two Education Technology Specialists and one Education Technology Technician that provide advice on the planning and implementation of educational technology used for instructional purposes. The team is part of the larger District 49 Learning Services Department headed by the Executive Director of Learning Services, Amber Whetstine. The Education Technology team also supports Apple Education products and tools, computer based assessments, the Schoology learning management system, and mobile devices used by staff and students across the district.
